Women’s Voice in Action has officially joined the signatories of the open letter to the UN, aimed at strengthening global efforts in the field of Women, Peace, and Security (WPS). The letter, prepared by the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Network, highlights the key challenges the international community faces amid armed conflicts and crises.
The letter emphasizes the urgent need to protect women's rights, ensure their participation in decision-making processes, and integrate gender perspectives into all peacebuilding efforts. The signatories stress the importance of transparent reporting on the implementation of international commitments and call on UN member states to strengthen the execution of Resolution 1325 and other key documents in this area.
By supporting this letter, Women’s Voice in Action reaffirms its commitment to advancing gender equality and global peace, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine. The organization aims to enhance cooperation with international partners and promote women's engagement in peace processes and post-conflict recovery.
The open letter will be part of discussions In advance of the October 2024 Security Council Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security, where attention will once again focus on assessing progress and seeking new solutions for the implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.
